SUMMARY:Woods Walk at First Forest
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the New York Forest Owners Association\, we are hosting a walk on this 105-acre property to showcase the recent and ongoing forestry work that is being conducted to enhance the forest’s condition using the FSF’s silviculture. \n\n\n\nCome prepared for a hike\, while First Forest has some trails the tour will require rock-hopping a small stream and traversing small hills. Depending on weather and availability\, a horse logging crew may be on site to demonstrate techniques and answer questions. \n\n\n\nThere are no bathroom facilities on site\, and due to COVID-19 restrictions no shared food or beverage will be provided. \n\n\n\nParticipants will be asked to sign a NYFOA Covid-19 Waiver on site. You can view a copy of the waiver here: \n\n\n\nNYFOA COVID-19 Waiver\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe FSF’s Troy Firth and Guy Dunkle tour the forest\, donated by Ted and Deb First in 2019.\n\n\n\n\n\nFirst Forest is located on Fenner Road (which can show up as Slide Joslyn road on Google Maps) north of Ellery Center and south of Stockton. A neighboring home’s address is 5403 Fenner Road Dewittville\, NY. Parking will be available along the side of the gravel access driveway\, vehicles with particularly low ground clearance should park along Fenner Road.
