DESCRIPTION:This regional day of giving is the Foundation for Sustainable Forest’s most impactful campaign of the year.  Your gift will directly conserve forested land as carefully managed working forests that support healthy watersheds\, wildlife\, and communities! \n\n\n\nYour gift during Erie Gives will be enhanced by a pro-rated matching donation by the Erie Community Foundation and its Sponsors. \n\n\n\nNew this year\, all processing and credit card fees will be covered by the Erie Community Foundation and its Corporate Sponsors. Now\, every nonprofit will receive 100% of every donation\, no matter how the gift is made either online\, by check\, or via IRA distribution. \n\n\n\n\nWays to Give\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo give by check: Checks can be mailed to or dropped off to Erie Community Foundation prior to August 5th.  All checks must be made out to “Erie Community Foundation” and must be accompanied by a check form. Mail check and completed form to The Erie Community Foundation\, 459 West 6th Street\, Erie\, PA 16507. \n\n\n\nTo give online: Online contributions will be accepted for 24 hours on Tuesday\, August 12th. SUMMARY:Twilight at the Forest Edge
DESCRIPTION:Join FSF for a relaxing evening watching the lightning bugs and the stars come out under the dark sky at Blooming Valley Forest.  A meadow along the forest’s edge near the Stoltz Road entrance will provide an open\, low-light view above.  Richard Gosnell\, Penn State Behrend astronomy lecturer and a Kripalu trained Mindful Outdoor Guide\, will explain some basics of observing wildlife at twilight and viewing the stars of the night sky.  The group will watch stars emerge in the darkening sky and listen to the patterns of the forest at dusk.  At the end of the hour\, Professor Gosnell will explain how to best view the Perseid meteor shower.  A telescope will be available for viewing stars. \n\n\n\nThe event is free and open to the public.  No RSVP needed.  All ages and levels of astronomy experience are welcome.  Children should be accompanied by an adult.  No pets\, please.  Please dress for the weather and bring a lawn chair. \n\n\n\nIn the event of cloudy or inclement weather\, the event will be rescheduled.
