In 2022, the Foundation for Sustainable Forests introduced the Jim Finley Stewardship Day as an annual event to honor the memory of distinguished forest educator and visionary conservationist James C. Finley. Each year, we come together at an FSF-conserved property for a project that is tied to the long-term health and resilience of the forest.
This year’s work will take place at FSF’s Subagh Preserve near Chautauqua Lake in Mayville, NY. With your help, we begin the conversion of a hay field to forest by planting tree seedlings. We will also improve existing trails around the property and paint trail markers.
FSF will supply the necessary tools and supplies to get the job done, but you are also encouraged to bring your own tools, work gloves, etc. Dress for the weather, but also for brambles, muddy terrain, etc.
Lunch, beverages, and snacks will be provided. There will be a bathroom facility on site. We request that you RSVP for this event, so that we can plan the projects and tools according to the group size. To RSVP, please complete the form below or call (814) 694-5830.
