On February 20 and 21, there were two teams of horses working in the southeast parcel of Glenwood Park between Parkside Drive and 38th St. The project aims at doing a “worst first” harvest of dying and diseased trees in the park, including ash infected by the emerald ash boring beetle, cherry, and oak. This project is small in scope, but will begin a path to healthier urban forests in Erie through sustainable management. It also supports the Foundation’s mission to promote sustainable forest management practices, and so the Foundation is thrilled to get the word out to the community with coverage such as the following:
